Utah FSC Member Scholarship

How do I get a scholarship?

Scholarships are awarded as official recognition by the Board of the achievements of individual skaters, who meet eligibility criteria, and are not intended to reflect specific costs or expenses associated with training or competition. Scholarships may be awarded to skaters who qualify to compete in an eligible competition.

Am I eligible for a scholarship?

To be eligible for a scholarship you must:

  • Membership: Must be a full, home-club member in good standing for at least two (2) consecutive seasons (current and previous).
  • Financial Status: All membership dues must be paid in full by July 1.
  • Volunteer Service: Must be current on all required volunteer hours for both the current year and the previous membership year.
  • Club Representation: Must have skated on behalf of the "Utah FSC" at the event and been listed as such in the official results. This representation must have occurred within the last 365 days when qualifying for a championship or national event.

In addition to eligibility, the skater or their family unit must have fulfilled at least three (3) of the following requirements between October of the previous year and October of the current year:

  1. Skated in a club-sponsored Ice Show.
  2. Competed in the Copper Cup.
  3. Met the required volunteer hours supporting the club.
  4. Contributed as a Silver or Gold level patron of the Ice Show.
  5. Parents (or legal-age skaters) attended at least one general membership meeting during the competitive season.

What are the eligible competitions?

  • Excel National Final (Not Festival)
  • National Showcase Finals
  • NQS Sectionals
  • National Solo Dance Final
  • US Figure Skating Championships
  • ISU International Competitions

Note on Byes: A skater who advances to an eligible competition via a bye is treated with the same status as a skater who advances through a qualifying competition

How much money are the scholarships?

$150 for the first eligible competition and $75 for the second eligible competition per fiscal year.
